Judged Quilt Show Rules

  1. General Information: Entry forms will be accepted at the July guild meetings or may be mailed to Dot Collins


  2. Entrant must be a Golden Triangle Guild member and must be the make or co-maker of the entry


  3. Entry forms will be published in the March and June guild newsletters and will be available on-line at the guild website: www.gt-qg.com. Published entry form may be reproduced as needed. An entry form must be received by the deadline for each entry, judged or non-judged.


  4. Entry forms must be complete including size (estimated, if quilt is in progress). Every space on entry form except where designated for entry committee must be filled in. Categories may be divided or combined to create equitable competition categories. Large number of entries in a category will be subdivided.


  5. Entry Deadline: July 22, 2005 (mailed entry forms must be received at the above address by this date).


  6. Entry Fee: $5 per entry for each entry to be judged.. No limit to judged entries. Non-judged entries limited to three per member with no entry fee required.


  7. Quilts designated for sale by member are subject to 10% fee of selling price to guild. Members with quilts for sale are encouraged to place them with the guild's "Quilts for Sale" booth, but if they wish them to be judged, they may enter and hang them in the show with the understanding that the guild's 10% fee will be applied and that the quilt cannot be disttibuted until takedown and distribution to owner.


  8. Delivery point: Beaumont Civic Center, Friday, September 23, 2005 from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.. Other delivery points and dates will be announced prior to or at the September guild meeting. All quilts must be received by the designated time to be displayed in the show.


  9. Distribution: No quilt will be removed from the Civic Center prior to 6:30 pm on Sunday, September 25 thru authorized check-out stations unless distribution preparations are completed and earlier checkout is agreed upon between the Distribtuion chairman and the Show Chairman.


  10. Each quilt must be labeled in a bottom corner of the back of the quilt and must include the name of the quilt, the entrant's name, address, and phone number


  11. Each quilt entered except for miniature quilt categories must have a 4" sleeve securely stitched to the quilt. Click here for sleeve instructions. If the qult is longer than 96", place the bottom edge of the sleeve no more than 96: from the bottom of the quilt. Quilt (other than miniature category) received without a sleeve will not be displayed.


  12. No rigid frames, mounting devices, or special lighting may accompany the quilt.


  13. Quilts must have been completed within the previous three years and may not have previously been judged at a GTQG show to be accepted for judging.


  14. Ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of the judges, including ribbons for Best of Show, first, second, third, and honorable memtion in each category: judges choice. Viewer's choice ribbon will be awarded basis ballots during the show. Other ribbons may also be awarded.


  15. Each entrant is responsible to insure their entry. Every effort will be made to assure your entry's safety but neither the Chairpersons, Golden Triangle Quilt Guild, or the Beaumont Civic Center can not be held liable for loss or damage to your entry. (Note: most homeowner's insurance will cover such loss but you should verify same if you are concerned.)


  16. Quilts must be clean and air-freshened, if from a smoking household, before delivery to check-in.
