2008 Golden Triangle Quilt Guild Quilt Show Categories
*Youth category entrants do not have to be members of the guild as long as they have a parent or grandparent who is a member. All other entrants must be members of GTQG. These categories will be further subdivided or combined as needed to create fair and equitable competition categories. For example, categories may be divided between hand and machine quilted quilts. The two persons categories may be divided between professionally quilted (where you pay to have quilting done) and non-professional (collaboration between two individual where pay is not involved. The wall quilt category may be divided between small and large size quilts. Also, the entry form will have a place for designation of Master quilter. If entries are sufficient to divide the category between Master and Artisan, that will be done.. The definition of Master quilter is anyone who teaches, publishes books, sells or quilts professionally, who has won a best of show ribbon or two first place ribbons in the Golden Triangle Quilt Guild show or other major show or contest. If there are not enough entries to have a stand-alone category (less than 6) then categories will be combined. For example, Art quilts may be combined into one category. Miniature quilts could be combined. All categories including small group or bee challenges require at least 6 entries or they will be combined into the appropriate general categories. Entrants will be limited to three non-judged entries. Quilters wishing to sell their quilts are encouraged to place them in the guild's "Quilts for Sale" booth, but if they wish them to be judged, they may enter and hang them in the show with the understanding that the guild's 10% fee will be applied and that the quilt cannot be distributed until after the takedown and distribution to the quilt entrant. Entry fee is $5 per entry. If quilt has both Applique and Piecing, entrant will indicate which is dominating technique to determine category. If quilt has both hand and machine quilting, entrant will indicate which is dominate in case there are enough to separate a category by hand and machine quilting. All of the categories listed will be further subdivided or combined to make an equitable distribution of quilts to be judged. |
