2010 GTQG QUILT SHOW BLOCK CONTEST

These blocks will be combined for a raffle quilt in 2011.

Theme: Anything relating to a farm, egg, farm animals, buildings, windmills, garden items, crops, etc.

Technique: Any technique used by quilters should be acceptable, for exampe, pieced, applique, paperpieced, raw edged applique, etc. Hand embroidery and/or machine embroidery will be allowed to accent the other quilting techniques mentioned above. Please be careful of any added embellishments. Do not use hot glue. Keep in mind that a non-quilter may win this quilt and launder the quilt often.

Size: Blocks may be any size that fits within the following parameters:

Any Finished size where sides are divisible by two

No block smaller then 6 in. x 6 in. finished

No block larger than 18 in finished on a side

Remember to allow seam allowance of 1/2 inch to the finished size

Borders may be added to a block to make it a workable size if necessary

No blocks will bed allowed which would have to be placed on the diagonal to be viewed upright.

Fabric: Any cotton fabrics other than muslin may be used for the block. Try to keep in mind the colors of a farm: brown, gold, green, barn red, pink (pigs), blue sky and water, black and white (cows), yellow (ducklings), etc. Applique blocks may be on any color background suitable to the subject. Please do not make the background too light in color

Blocks should be turned in to Carolyn Slack at any time but no later than the January guild meeting. January 21, 2010.
Judging will take place the morning of quilt show setup, February 11, 2010.
Blocsk will be displayed in a special area at the quilt show, February 12-13. Remember these blocks will be combined to make our raffle/donation quilt for the 2011 GTQG Auction.
